On Saturday, 24 November 2018 at La Salle Mai Thon, the District of Vietnam celebrated the Holy Year of the Lasallian Vocations to mark the 300th anniversary of Saint John Baptist de La Salle’s entry into eternal. The Mass was held in a warm and simple atmosphere, celebrated by Rev. Joseph M. Pham Hong. The concelebrants were some priests who were professors of Lasalle Institute of Theology and a former Lasallian student. About 300 people attended the Mass including Brothers, La Salle Sisters, teachers, alumni and students, Brothers’ relatives and guests.
The homily of Father Ngan, a former Lasallian student, helped the liturgical community to review the main ideas and the examples of Saint John of Baptist de La Salle that were radiant in the Church yesterday as well as today. The work that God has started in St. La Salle has been present in Vietnam and is being carried out in many parts of Vietnam by the Christian Brothers, La Salle Sisters, and Lasallian teachers.
With Lasallian spirituality, Lasallian educators in schools and educational institutions have educated thousands of students, including about 500 students with special circumstances: ethnic, poor, or disabled students. With the celebration of the Year of the Lasallian Vocations, the La Salle Christian Brothers and La Salle Sisters have had the opportunity to deepen their Lasallian spirituality and the education, renew their spiritual lives and educational vocation, renew their commitments for educating the youth, try the best to help more and more poor children so that they may become good people.
The Celebration of the holy year was closed with a small party where everyone gathered together to share the joy and gratefulness of the Holy Year.
