 Message from Br. David Liao, Visitor
Greetings from La Salle Provincialate and welcome to the District of Penang (Malaysia-Singapore-HongKong). It is indeed a great honour for us to host you for this Asian Pacific Lasallian Educators Conference, APLEC 98, in our Sub-District of Hong Kong.
On behalf of us all, I would like to thank Brother Patrick Tierney, Auxiliary Visitor of Hong Kong and his very dedicated and devoted Organising Committee for making this event possible. I know, for almost a year, they spent many hours of hard work discussing and working out the smallest detail to ensure that this our gathering of Lasallians of the Asian Pacific Region will be memorable for us all. Their spirit of cooperation and dedication in preparing for this conference is indeed an example worthy of praise and emulation. I am sure God will bless them and their families for their innumerable sacrifices in carrying out their respective tasks.
Asia is a land of great diversity of race, culture and religion. Our spirit of Faith in a loving and compassionate God cuts through this diversity to enable us to see ourselves as members of one great family of the human race, as brothers and sisters to one another. Our spirit of Zeal gives us the commitment, dedication and courage to live this ideal of the brotherhood and sisterhood of all mankind. Through our spirit of Community, of loving, caring and sharing with one another our giftedness and our resources we become fully human and fully alive. Our Lasallian spirit of FAITH ZEAL and COMMUNITY binds us together as an educative community in the service of youth and nations throughout Asia.
I pray that we will all experience a meaningful and fruitful coming together for this our APLEC 98. This is a time to renew old friendships and make new connections. It is an opportunity for us to expand our network of resources available to us as members of our Lasallian family. Have a nice time, enjoy yourself! |
