General Council on the Road
February is a busy month for the Superior General and the General Council. On February 1, Br. John Johnston, Superior General, and Councilor Br. Gerard Rummery begin a six-week pastoral visit to the District of North Mexico and the USA/Toronto Region. Other Councillors are scheduled to participate in meetings of Visitors: Br. Alvaro Rodriguez, Vicar, at the RELAL meeting in Caracas, Venezuela from Feb. 2-6; Br. Raymundo Suplido at the PARC meeting in Pattaya, Bangkok from Jan 29-Feb.6; Fr. Martin Corral at the ARLEP meeting in Spain from Feb. 1-14.
Meeting at the Generalate:

 An important meetingswill take place at the Generalate during February. The President of Ireland, Mrs. Mary McAleese, will visit the Generalate on February 12 to give a public talk on the subject: EUROPE: Solidarity and Dialogue Against Conflicts and Separations - New Roles for Christian Women in Leadership.
 The visit by Mrs. McAleese to the Generalate is not the first by an Irish President. In 1961, President Eamon DeValera and members of his Cabinet visited the Generalate and signed the guest book in the Sanctuary of the Chapel of the Founder. |
