Founder's
Day in Homestead, Florida, USA: José M. Dorado tells
us that laughs and children were the ingredients that
prevailed during Founder's Day, May 15th, celebrated in
the Educational Center SJB de La Salle in Homestead,
Florida, USA.
The festivities officially began with the arrival of
Father Pedro Garcia, of Santa Ana's Mission, who visited
classes and then presided over the blessing of a statue
of the Founder, located in the entrance corridor.
After the Blessing and other festivities, the day ended
with an excellent Mexican meal. "I believe that the
Founder would be happy with this simple and cheerful
celebration of this day in his honor." |
100 years of Lasallian presence in Asturias. Brother
Superior's visit:
On
May 18 closing ceremonies were held, celebrating the
Centenary of the arrival of the Brothers in the region
of Asturias.
The Brothers arrived in 1902 at a school that was
offered to them and was subsidized by the Duro Felguera
Iron and Steel Company for the education of the children
of workers in the city of Felguera.
During these 100
years the Brothers' school was an important place for
social advancement and for the evangelization of
thousands of young people.
Currently, there are 7 Brothers in the religious
community and along with 25 lay teachers they run the
educational ministry. They are aided in this task by an
active former student association.
Brother Superior attended the festivities and gave
two talks that were followed with great interest. One
talk was for the entire Lasallian family in the city's
great theatre. The topic was "The International
Lasallian Institute." The other talk was entitled "The
Identity of the Brother Today" and it was directed
towards the Brothers who currently work in Asturias and
those who worked there formerly. |

to the school. |
Lasallian Reflections, N° 6: At the end of the
month of May,
Lasallian Reflections,
N° 6 was mailed from the Generalate to all Visitors and
Auxiliary Visitors and all Delegates and Presidents. As
part of the series of practical materials sent to
Districts and Delegations, this particular number in the
series provides two simple and easy to use "models" of a
"personal annual program" that could be of help to
Brothers. |
