CIL 2005 Comes to a Close: The one-month CIL 2005, Formators for the Lasallian Mission, came to a close on November 12th 2005 with a Commissioning ceremony during the Closing Eucharist. There were thirty-nine Lasallians from sixteen countries and six Regions (PARC, RELAL, PROCHE-ORIENT, TORONTO-USA, RELAF, ARLEP). In October they got off to a great start by the enthusiastic way in which they (seventeen Brothers and twenty-two lay participants) literally ‘leaped’ over language barriers to foster a wonderful community spirit among themselves.
They entered into this CIL program on “Lasallian Formation” with great zeal, spending the first week reporting on their mission in their respective communities, analyzing the work done, and identifying some of the criteria for Lasallian Mission. They were also in touch with their “Reference Team” members via internet.
In the middle two weeks, they listened to various speakers to get some insights into a Lasallian worldview of Mission (Brother Nicolas Capelle), an overall perspective of Education (Sister Rachele), Education in a Secular, Inter-cultural and Inter-religious Environment (Brother Herman Lombaerts), and Lasallian Association and Identity (Brother Antonio Botana).
Finally, in the fourth week, the participants with the help of the CIL Staff took responsibility for framing their own time-table, and creating a plan to present a summary of what they had learned. Working very well with their own set of translators and writers,
the participants came up with two meaningful documents: Characteristics of the Lasallian Way of Life and Guidelines to Lasallian Formation.

Celebrations in the Philippines for the Guadalupana Sisters: In September the Guadalupana Sisters in the Philippines had the Official Visit of their Sister Superior General, Sr. Berta Arcos Pardo. On the 8th of September 2005, during the 59th Anniversary of Foundation of their Institute of The La Salle Sisters of Guadalupe (Hermanas Guadalupanas de La Salle), Sr. Maria Teresa T. Retome (from the Philippines) made her Perpetual Vows. At the same time they shared in the celebration of Sr. Otilia Salas de Lira’s Silver Jubilee of religious life. We ask you to support us with you prayers for us to follow and serve the Lord with enthusiasm and faithfulness in our Lasallian-Guadalupana Charism. Thank You Very Much! In the picture, are the Bishop of Bacolod, concelebrant Priests, Brs. Rafael Donato, Augustin Boquer, Mandy, the Sister Delegate Josephine Sugon, and the Sisters in the Philippines who accompanied the two Sisters.
Greetings to all members of The Lasallian Family around the world!
(Sister Mariana Reyes, HGS)
