Dear Brothers and Members of the Lasallian Family:

Easter is the feast of life and of hope. Easter is an invitation to put our confidence in the risen Jesus Christ in spite of the difficult times in which we live, marked by wars, terrorism, death, injustice, suffering, kidnapping, marginalization, poverty, the disfigured faces of so many children….

For us believers the Resurrection of Jesus is a sign and a foretaste of the victory of the God of life over the idols of death, which commits us to the construction of a more human world where all can live as sons and daughters of God and as brothers and sisters. As José Antonio Pagola tells us: The resurrection of Jesus is for us the ultimate reason and the daily strength of our hope, that which encourages us to work for a more human world. In the risen Jesus we discover the profound purpose of God confirmed for ever: a life fully happy for the entire creation, a life freed for ever from evil.

May all Lasallians with eyes open and hearts burning like the disciples of Emmaus, before Christ risen, make ours the call of the 44th General Chapter: Both the Brothers and other Lasallians dedicated to the mission of education, are called to address this reality so that the Reign of God, proclaimed and realized in Jesus, may transform the world into one of hope, justice, peace and communion among people.(Circular 455, p.5)

Happy Easter of the Resurrection!

Fraternally in De La Salle,

Brother Álvaro Rodríguez Echeverría
Superior General
