APPROVAL OF THE NEW WORDING OF THE FORMULA OF VOWS OF THE BROTHERS

On January 9th last the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life sent a communication to Br. Alvaro Rodriguez Echeverria in which it made known its approval of “the new wording of the formula of vows, in conformity with the tradition of the Institute”.

Taking into account the approval, the new wording of the formula of vows is the following:

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, prostrate with the most profound respect before your infinite and adorable majesty, I consecrate myself entirely to you to procure your glory as far as I shall be able and as you will require of me.

For this purpose I, . . . promise and vow to unite myself, and to remain in society, with the Brothers of the Christian Schools who are associated to conduct, together and
by association, schools for the service of the poor. I promise to go wherever I may be sent and to do whatever I may be assigned by the body of the Society
or its superiors.

Wherefore, I promise and vow association for the service of the poor through education, chastity, poverty, obedience, and stability in the Institute according to the Bull of Approbation and the Rule of the Institute.

I promise to keep these vows faithfully (for a period of ... years) all my life.

In testimony thereof, I have signed. Done at... on...
in the year of Our Lord...
Signature. . .

We understand this approval of the new wording of the formula of vows not as the end of a process but as one further step in this continuing walking in fidelity “consecrated by the God of the Trinity as a community of Brothers, to make visible his gratuitous and supportive love. But we can be certain that this approval will provide us with a greater boost in our understanding and valuing of our religious life as Brothers of the Christian Schools.
Br. Leonardo Tejeiro, Procurator General
