Blessed Bertrán Francisco
Francisco Lahoz Moliner was born in Campos (province of Teruel) on October 15, 1912, he was baptized the following day.
On August 10, 1925 he entered the junior novitiate in Cambrils, having come from the Aspirancy program in Monreal del Campo.
He took the habit on February 2, 1929.
After his scholasticate training, he went to the junior novitiate as a teacher for the young men who were academically challenged and after that he taught catechetics in the novitiate.
He was a steady and frugal type, and he was patient in putting up with jokes. His attitude towards others was pleasing and refined. He was a modest man and had a great capacity for work.
Because of the religious persecution in 1936 he was assigned, in 1936, along with Brother Elías Julián, to accompany a group of novices who were from Valencia and Aragon.
As mentioned in the information given concerning Brother Elías Julián, after a period of near-total isolation, they were summarily sentenced and shot in the Benimamet military camp. Brother Bertrán Francisco was 24 years old. They were buried in a common grave in a cemetery in Valencia.
Lord: You made our Brother to be consumed in benefit of those most in need
and you saw to it that his inner life might be catching
to all those involved in education.
See that as young people of today we might know how to reject the superficial
and live a deep inner life.
All strength comes from you,
You are the great treasure of our lives,
make us discover that we are capable of communicating you to others.
Amen.
