On the occasion of  50 years of presence of the Guadalupana  De La Salle Sisters in the Mother House of the Brothers, on December 8th 2007, Feast of the Immaculate Conception , they gave thanks to the Lord, along with the Brothers: the Superior General, Councilors, the Central Community, CIL and other friends during a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragán concelebrating with 10 priest friends of the Community of Sisters. After the Eucharist there was a historical outline of the community from the time the Sisters left Mexico till, after 13 days travel, they arrived in Rome and began their apostolate in this community.

After this presentation we shared a meal and we ended the celebration with the words of Br.Superior, who, on behalf of the Mother House and the Institute, thanked the Sisters for their presence and service in the house for the past 50 years. He emphasized the following: “You are part of this house and your presence has been a blessing for us”. He ended by quoting the words of Br.John Johnston, of happy memory, addressed to the Sisters: “Sisters, I assure you that we feel very happy to have you as our sisters and we journey happily with you, our Religious Lasallian Sisters, ‘together and by association’.”

Following this, Sister Maria Cervantes, in the name of Sister Superior General, Ana Bertha Arcos Pardo, thanked the Brothers for their support during these 50 years and the Sisters who have given service in this Community as well as the Sisters who at present make up the Community.

To end this significant event, Sister Blanca Ramirez, one of the first nine Sisters who arrived in the Community, shared with us her experiences during the long journey, first by plane to the United States, where they were helped by the Community of the Brothers in New York and then in the ship “Augusto”. On arriving in Naples they were met by Br.Assistant,  Alcime Marie, who took them to Rome by train. Sister shared with us various anecdotes from the early days of the Community which had all present laughing.

We sincerely thank all the Brothers and the Lasallian Family for keeping us present in their prayers. We end by recommending ourselves to your prayers.

The Community of Our Lady of the Snows of the Guadalupana Lasallian Sisters.
