On Friday March 3rd, as part of the campaign “One call, many voices”, the efforts of the District animation team were directed towards the Escuela La Salle Tierra Nueva, Guatemala, in connection with the plan to provide equipment for the infirmary.
In line with the campaign plan proposed by the Communications Office, the work of District animation began “at home”. In today’s situation, we are challenged to leave our comfort zones and not to be restricted to a concern for ourselves. The idea of being called means we must constantly be impressed by reality and work together and by association to discover new ways of commitment to the most needy. That is our vocation, to go beyond the frontiers, outside the camp, and to show every generosity there.
The day began with an emotional welcome by the educational community of Tierra Nueva, with grateful smiles on the faces of the excited children. The Brothers and partners spent some fraternal time with the teachers, the admin staff, the parents and children of the school, while a committee was busy with the equipment for the infirmary.
Finally, to the strains of the school choir rendering a song entitled “The Call” the results of the project were presented. We grow by giving and receiving, enriching our own lives and those of others. Together we are building a world in which nobody will lack anything.
We are grateful to the Brothers of the District for their leadership, their efforts to help and their love and generosity in realising this project. May God reward you a hundredfold.
We invite the school community to share their feelings.
“There is more joy in giving than in receiving”. (Actes 20.35)
