Professors Alejandro Martínez González and Lars Bonell García of the Centro Superior de Estudios Universitarios La Salle formed part of the team of experts appointed by the Ministry for Education, Culture and Sports in the last academic year to draw up its Strategic Plan for Coexistence in Schools.
The plan aims to promote better coexistence in schools and to eliminate situations of harassment, ill-treatment and discrimination that can arise in educational establishments. The plan has recently been published on the Ministry’s website for coexistence in schools.
The plan is built around seven main axes dealing with the prevention of every kind of violence in schools. It also includes eight lines of action with goals and means for each of them, and these can be consulted via the link: Plan Estratégico de Convivencia Escolar.
The National Centre for Research and Innovation in Education was given the charge of producing the plan, with the collaboration of the Comunidades Autónomas as the bodies most concerned with the struggle to overcome social and educational exclusion. It set up the team of experts responsible for the details of the plan, and in addition to the two lecturers mentioned above, the team also included Teresa Sordé Martí of the Universitat Autónoma of Barcelona and Esther Roca Campos, Coordinator for Inclusive Schooling in the Generalitat Valenciana.
Professors Alejandro Martínez and Lars Bonell are members of the Department for Social Education and Employment in the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences in the Centro Universitario La Salle. They have spent many years in research and teaching in the area of inclusion in education and in the promotion of success in school.
