Sometimes, it is in music that we find the answer we are looking for, and we often find a reflection of our own feelings there, precisely because someone else has already felt the same.
That was the experience of the pupils from the Istituto Pio IX (on the Aventine in Rome). They had the occasion to listen to the special voices and music of the boys of St. Bonaventura College, St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. They were all students of music and part of the Wind Ensemble, winners of many international prizes and on tour in Italy, where they performed during an audience with the Pope.
Acquaintances were made through looks and smiles occasioned by the singing, the music and the dialogue. The songs became the common language of the encounter. Indeed, the call comes through many voices in the world of music, if only we stop to listen. We can be carried away by so many instruments playing together in a harmony that is the work of God.
