The Generalate – “Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment”

The Generalate – “Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment”

A seminar in preparation for the Synod to be held in October 2018

On December 1st and 2nd, the Education Commission of the Unions of Major Superiors (UISG and USG) organised a seminar in the Generalate to discuss the theme for the next Synod which will be on “Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment”.

In addition to discussing the topic, the aim was to provide the Commission with proposals and messages on the part the Religious Institutes taking part in that event.

The seminar opened with a talk given by the General of the Society of Jesus, Father Arturo Sosa, and this was followed by a panel of experts in the pastoral ministry to young people and two discussion groups with young people (religious, priestly and lay).

The participation of the Ain Karem group and of Mgr Angelo Vincenzo Zani, Archbishop Secretary for the Congregation for Catholic Education, introduced an element of ecclesial universality and of prayer to go with the fraternal atmosphere of sharing and in-depth dialogue. The event was fruitful, and it also formed closer ties in the interests of the mission among the participants, who saw themselves as part of a Church which evangelises young people and is evangelised by them.

In the same way, we are invited to listen to young people and to walk forward with them, so as to ensure that the forthcoming Synod will be an action that is for and with young people.

If you are interested in the text of the conference or wish to have more information about it, please contact Brother Nestor Anaya, Secretary of the Mission:
