Argentina-Paraguay: On the Way to the World Youth Day, 2019

From the 28th of March to the 1st of April during Holy Week, there was a Spirituality Day for the Young Lasallians of the District of Argentina-Paraguay, and it was the occasion for launching the process which would lead to the young people from various parts of the District congregating in Panama for the World Youth Day, 2019.

During this initial meeting, 21 young people, accompanied by 7 members of the leadership team, met to pray together and celebrate Holy Week in a programme which invited us to walk with Jesus on the way and to pray about the life of the Founder and the place of Mary in our following of her Son.

On Maundy Thursday, we celebrated the Last Supper with the pesach passover ritual. On Good Friday, we walked with Jesus in the Way of the Cross, thinking of society today and the crosses it has to bear. On Holy Saturday, we joined the whole Church in following the Easter Vigil in the National Basilica of Our Lady of Lujan, and Easter Sunday found us gathered together to celebrate the good news in the Mass of the Resurrection.

The young people will follow up these actions by participating in the National Youth Meeting entitled “With you we Renew History”, and after that we will gather for the District Students Assembly. Then there will be a pilgrimage to Lujan under the motto “May your word be done in me”, and it will all culminate in the World Youth Day and the international meeting of Young Lasallians.
