In 1946 the De La Salle Brothers created the International Missionary Secretariat (SMI), which would be responsible for supplying aid to the missions. In 1967 the Secretariat changed its name to International Lasallian Cooperation Service (SECOLI). In 2007, the activities carried out by SECOLI were undertaken by the Secretariat of Solidarity and Development, which in 2010 created the non-profit organization Fondazione De La Salle Solidarietà Internazionale ONLUS*, as its legal instrument.
Fondazione De La Salle Solidarietà Internazionale ONLUS provides capacity building, technical assistance, and financial support to Lasallian educational initiatives worldwide. It supports development projects promoting the rights of children and youth at-risk of social and educational exclusion all over the world, through schools, learning centers, orphanages, youth facilities, health clinics and other programs which respond to a vast array of local needs.
*Italian Acronym for Non-Profit.
