Brazil – Lasallian Formation Sessions

Brazil – Lasallian Formation Sessions

On the14th of September, there was the second session of the Formation Programme II, and people from the Lasallian educational centres of the Nordeste and Norte attended from morning until late in the evening. In this module, colleagues from La Salle Ananindeua/PA and Colégio La Salle Zé Doca/MA reflected on Lasallian spirituality, elementary biblical studies and introduction to biblical texts. The Brothers and associated Collaborators were given keys for a contextualised reading of the synoptic gospels, and ideas on the links between reason and faith. It all took place in a climate of a profound sense of belonging and communion with God. Brother Edwin Arteaga Tobón, the official Institute translator, led the work which gave everyone a great learning opportunity, going deeply into topics that are fundamental for the Lasallaian educator. Finally, mention should be made of the work of coordination done by the local staff which made for a successful meeting.

The formation session which was specifically designed for future De La Salle Brothers lasted six weeks at three hours per week. The following topics were considered:

  1. The spirituality of a teacher;
  2. Bible: Synoptic Gospels;
  3. Problems of reason and faith;
  4. Basic ideas for and against Association.

The session was possible, thanks to the initiative of Brother Edgar Genuíno Nicodem, Provincial,  and the academic contribution by Brother Edwin Arteaga.

We hope this formation will be a fundamental part of the process of training young Postulants.

Brother Marcelo Misturini, FSC
