(Brotehr David Hawke, General Councillor for PARC Region) | FRANCE- 5 DAYS TO MAKE OUR OWN THE LASALLIAN EDUCATION PROJECT.
For the fourth consecutive year, the delegation of the Lille Lasallian area set up a formation course entitled “5 Days”. It was aimed at all the personnel of establishments, both teachers and non-teachers. For this school year, the cycle was launched on October 20th.
Five days for “succeeding and integrating ourselves into the Lasallian network” - such is the invitation of the “5Days” formation course which takes place in the Lille delegation area. Five days also allow for discovering five different places within the Lille area, all animated by the same Lasallian Spirit.
For the first day, October 20th 2009, the group was received by the Institution St.Pierre in Lille, in the morning at the primary school premises and in the afternoon at the college-lycée.
This formation aims at linking the “say’ of the Lasallian Education Project with the “do” and: - permitting the participants to become involved in a team effort
- deepening the Lasallian Education Project and giving meaning to their commitment
- discovering the network by means of the experiences lived in the establishments
This year, twenty one participants are following this formation open to all personnel of establishments. It is the “community of educators” as Br.André Pierre Gauthier says in La Salle – Liens Internationals No.66 of December 2008: “The young are waiting and hoping for adults who know how to conjugate the singular of their function and their personality with the plural which an education project brings with it.” The group is very balanced (five administration staff, two school life staff members, six first degree teachers [college] and eight second degree teachers [lycée]).
The work of this first day was centred on the community so that the group could assimilate one foundation of the Lasallian Education Project: Together and by Association. It meant becoming aware that it is a community which moves to make the Lasallian Education Project come to life. The interactive montage thought up by the FARL (Formation of animators of the Lasallian Network)2009 group was a very interesting support for provoking thought and reflection among the participants on this essential foundation of our Lasallian tradition.
This formation course is part of a range of propositions from IDLS (Institut de La Salle). For the Lille delegation it is the fruit of one group: Nicole Capron, CathyJaquet. Alain Desplechin, Etienne-Marie d’Halluin and Patrick Trancoen who runs the group.
