The Delegation of India organised a day assembly for the La Salle Youth Movement (LYM) members on “The Challenges of Youth”. The members from five of our mission institutions and one formation centre participated in the Assembly, which was held on 13 January 2019 at St. Joseph Juniorate, Mangalagiri, in Tuticorin District. The core theme of the Lasallian Youth Assembly is three fold; to prepare our future Lasallians, to face the challenges, and to lead and to animate the La Salle Youth Movement programmes in their respective schools for the forthcoming year.
The LYM members from other institutions arrived from their respective places on 13th January 2019. There were around 100 members including the Aspirants from Mangalagiri.
Bro. Anbu started the day with a meaningful morning prayer. It was an inspiration to everyone to remind the 300th death Anniversary of our Holy Founder. After the prayer he welcomed the participants from all our institutions. On behalf of the Delegation, the formation Commission Chairman Bro. Inego Amalan welcomed the Brothers, lay associates and the members of the LYM present in the assembly.
The day was filled with sessions and activities on the following topics – Behavior of the youth today and their lifestyle; Observe, Think and Act: Challenges of the Youth and how to overcome them; and explanation on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and how human actions are directed toward attaining one’s goals; small group discussions on leading youth programmes and what can the LYM do for the betterment of society.
It was a meaningful and fun filled day that concluded with a cultural session. The assembly ended on a high note – everyone was grateful for the experience and felt a great sense of pride in saying: WE ARE LASALLIANS!
