Appointment Brother Visitor and Auxiliary Visitor

Brother Robert Schieler, before the end of his term as Superior General, has appointed Brother Betre Fisseha as the new Visitor for the Lwanga District of Africa for a period of four years, from July 1, 2022.

Brother Betre was born in Ethiopia in 1973. He took the habit of the Brothers at the international Novitiate in Nairobi in 1995, pronounced his first vows in 1996 and made his final vows in 2005.

He holds a bachelor Degree of Science of Education in English, Leadership and Religion from St Mary’s University Minnesota, Tangaza College Campus in Nairobi, Kenya. He also holds a Diploma in Social Communication from Tangaza College, as well as a Master Degree in Educational Administration and Planning, from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (Nairobi) and a Master’s Degree in Lasallian Leadership. He has participated in international programs of Lasallian Studies, such as SIEL in Rome and the Buttimer Institute (RELAN)

Brother Betre has served as teacher and administrator in several apostolates in Ethiopia including Meki, Nazareth, Dire Dawa. For a good number of years, he was director of the Catholic Mission School in Meki. While in Meki, he became Sector Coordinator of Ethiopia and later on he was community director at Gebremikael Centre Community, Addis Ababa, where he also served as principal of Nazareth School, and some years later he was community director of Saint Joseph community in Nazareth. Currently he is the Auxiliary Visitor of the Lwanga District of Africa and has served this position since January 2017.

Brother Armin Luistro has appointed Brother Moses Abunya Auxiliary Visitor for the District of Lwanga. His mandate will last four years: from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2026.

Brother Akpoughul-Abunya Msughter Moses is originally from Naka, local government of Gwer West, Benue State, Nigeria. He joined the Brothers in 1995 and took perpetual vows on 29 October 2005.

From 2005 to 2011 he was Rector of St Peter’s Seminary in Yola, Nigeria. The Brother was the pioneer representative of Africa in the International Council of Young Lasallians in Rome, Italy, for four years. He holds the title of Educational Leader in the Master of Education programme. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from St Mary’s University in Minnesota USA. He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lewis University.

The District of Lwanga has a total of about 113 Brothers (of whom 60 work in schools), 30 communities and more than 19,000 students. There are over 700 lay staff (men) and over 500 women.
