Appointment of the Brother Visitor of the District of Antilles-Mexico South
Brother Armin Luistro, Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, has appointed Brother Rafael Cerón, FSC for Visitor of the District of Antilles – Mexico South, from 15 July 2026 to 14 July 2030.
Brother Rafael was born in the city of Orizaba, in the State of Veracruz, Mexico, on 11 September 1976. His vocation as a Brother was deeply marked by the love and unconditional support of his family. In a special way his mother Angélica Sigala Rodríguez, his father Javier Cerón Najera and his sister Monserrat Cerón Sigala, have been fundamental in his vocational process.
His vocational call dates back to his time as a first-year high school student, when he participated in the Brothers’ Pastoral Ministry of Vocations. He entered the Aspirancy in Tlalpan, Mexico City, at the age of 15 and began his formation as a De La Salle Brother. Between 1995 and 1996 he did his Novitiate in Lagos de Moreno (Jalisco), a period he remembers as “a period of spiritual and vocational growth, a time dedicated to prayer, reflection and deep learning about the Lasallian mission”.
In August 1996 he pronounced his first vows as a religious, and continued his formation process in the Scholasticate of Santa Lucia, in Mexico City, first, and then in San Antonio Cacalotepec, between 1996 and 2000. Later, in 2003, he took his perpetual vows in Tlalpan, confirming his desire to dedicate his life to the service of God and to the integral formation of young people, following in the footsteps of St. John Baptist de La Salle.
Br. Rafael holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Secondary Education with a major in Mathematics (1997-2001) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Sciences (2001-2006). He also holds a Master’s Degree in Administrative and Quality Engineering (2010-2012) and since 2023 he has been studying for a Doctorate in Educational Planning and Leadership.
His educational and pastoral career is marked by leadership and passion for the educational mission, being a teacher and director in various Lasallian institutions; and director at different stages of formation for those who have opted for the vocation of the Brother of the Christian Schools.
Between 2015 and 2023 he was secretary for the AMEL of his District. From 2023 to 2024, he served as Director General of La Salle Benavente. On January 1, 2025, the Brother Superior General appointed him General Councilor of the Institute.
We extend our congratulations and best wishes to Brother Rafael on the mission and responsibility entrusted to him, and we thank Brother José Francisco Flores for his generous service to the District as he concludes his term as Brother Visitor. We ask Saint John Baptist de La Salle to continue to intercede for the Brothers and Lasallians of the District Antilles-Mexico South.
