Circular 480 – In memoriam. Brother Vincent de Paul Rabemahafaly
“A life dedicated to God, Education and Fraternity”
Brother Vincent de Paul Rabemahafaly was an outstanding figure in the Lasallian Mission in Madagascar, in Africa and within the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. A religious deeply rooted in the faith, an educator, a formator and a man of the Church, he devoted more than seventy years of his life to the service of God, young people and the educational mission. This biography aims to pay tribute to his exceptional life’s journey, marked by fidelity, fraternity and a constant commitment to the service of others.
From his childhood, shaped by the example of a deeply devout mother, Brother Vincent developed a strong spiritual life as well as a great sense of service and compassion. Very early on, his human and intellectual qualities were recognised, leading him to take on significant responsibilities: formator of young Brothers, Director of communities and schools, Visitor of the Antananarivo District, General Councillor of the Institute, Collaborator with the Bishops’ Conference of Madagascar and a committed advocate of the Lasallian Mission in Africa. Despite these many responsibilities, he always remained a humble man, approachable and deeply committed to the spirit of fraternity.
Beyond a chronological account of his life, this book seeks above all to highlight the spiritual and human legacy he leaves behind. Through his witness of faith, service, humility and missionary commitment, Brother Vincent continues to inspire the generations of Brothers, students and colleagues whom he accompanied. His life reminds us that a life lived with fidelity and simplicity can become a true source of hope for the Church, for young people and for the Lasallian Educational Mission.
