Lasallian International Days of Peace 2026: “Peace, Piece by Piece: Building a Fraternal World”
On 21 September, the world celebrates the International Day of Peace, and for the Lasallian Family this marks the start of the International Lasallian Days of Peace (ILDP), which, as in previous years, will run for a month, until 21 October.
A more fraternal world
“This year, we invite you to join us under the theme ‘Peace, Piece by Piece: Building a more fraternal world’”, urges the team of volunteers for the ILDP 2026, recalling that “at this time, our global Lasallian Family comes together to celebrate our shared commitment to peace: a time to reflect, to come together across borders and, above all, to transform our commitment into specific actions”.
“Sometimes peace may seem like an unattainable ideal, especially in a world marked by conflict, divisions and uncertainty. However, peace begins with us. It is a patient, day-to-day endeavour: peace is built through a small gesture, an encounter, a relationship… one ‘piece’ at a time”, explains the organising team for the ILDP 2026.
Inspired by Lasallian Reflection 12 – proposed for the period 2026-2027 –, the theme of this year’s International Lasallian Peace Days “reminds us that when we walk alongside one another, distances are narrowed and bridges are built”, making it possible to build a fraternal and peaceful world.
Build bridges where there is distance.
Choose to come together where there is division.
Listen where voices struggle to be heard.
Take a step towards others.
And invite others to walk alongside you.
Building peace step by step
“That is why we want to encourage Young Lasallians across the Institute to take small but meaningful steps towards others and, together, become peacemakers”, adds the team of volunteers for ILDP 2026.
Convinced that no single action on its own will build a fraternal world, but that thousands of small actions carried out by Lasallians across our global network can make a difference, the ILDP 2026 organising team is confident that these sessions “will remind us that peace begins with each one of us, that our efforts continue to inspire one another, as global Lasallian Family, to build a more peaceful and fraternal world, piece by piece”.
“We extend a special invitation to Young Lasallians around the world to bring this vision to life and become artisans of peace who promote a culture of encounter”.
