Running from February to March 2025, this initiative aims to raise awareness and funds to break the barriers that prevent millions of girls and women from accessing education worldwide.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-1 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-color5);--awb-font-size:24px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><strong>The Urgency of Gender Equality in Education<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p>According to the <strong>World Economic Forum<\/strong>, at the current rate of progress, gender equality will not be achieved until <strong>2158<\/strong>\u2014a staggering <strong>five more generations of women<\/strong> waiting for equal opportunities. We cannot afford to wait that long. Education is the key to accelerating this change, and La Salle is committed to ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to learn and thrive.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-2 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-color5);--awb-font-size:24px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><strong>Breaking Down Barriers<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p>Across the world, <strong>119 million girls are out of school<\/strong> due to poverty, child marriage, gender-based violence, and lack of safe educational environments (<strong>UNICEF<\/strong>). Through #1LaSalle initiatives, we are addressing these challenges with concrete projects:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasallefoundation.org\/project\/fratelli-project-maicao\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fratelli Project, Maicao, Colombia<\/a>:<\/strong> Supporting forced migrants and vulnerable indigenous groups, with a special focus on girls\u2019 education.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasallefoundation.org\/project\/keesara-new-bus-to-bring-girls-to-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Salle College Keesara, India<\/a>:<\/strong> Implementing safe transportation solutions to help girls attend school without fear.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasallefoundation.org\/project\/lasallian-women-of-hope-fighting-period-poverty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lasallian Women of Hope<\/a>:<\/strong> Combating period poverty by providing menstrual health education and hygiene products.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasallefoundation.org\/project\/all-girls-at-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kunda Dia Zayi Institute, Tumba, DR Congo<\/a>:<\/strong> Offering scholarships and vocational training to ensure young women complete their education.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasallefoundation.org\/project\/casarcobaleno-scampia-moms-of-naples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CasArcobaleno, Naples, Italy<\/a>:<\/strong> Providing vocational training and empowerment programs for women in one of Naples\u2019s most vulnerable neighborhoods, Scampia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-color5);--awb-font-size:24px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><strong>The Impact of Investing in Girls\u2019 Education<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p>When girls receive an education, the effects are transformative:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Economic Growth:<\/strong> Each additional year of schooling can increase a country\u2019s GDP by <strong>3%<\/strong> (<strong>UNESCO<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevention of Child Marriages:<\/strong> Education serves as a powerful tool in delaying child marriages, as girls who stay in school are less likely to be forced into early unions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Breaking the Cycle of Poverty:<\/strong> Educated women are more likely to secure quality jobs, support their families, and lift entire communities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Healthier Societies:<\/strong> Education reduces child mortality, improves maternal health, and ensures better futures for the next generations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>More Women in STEM*:<\/strong> Despite progress, only <strong>35% of STEM students<\/strong> and <strong>28% of researchers<\/strong> worldwide are women (<strong>UNESCO, UN Women<\/strong>).
