as the Lord is &#8220;gently knocking&#8221; at the window of their soul.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jesus is our hope, adventure with Him throughout your life, and let Him enlighten you&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pope Leo XIV expressed this during the Mass for the Jubilee of Young People at Tor Vergata in Rome on Sunday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Holy Father introduced this by acknowledging\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/leo-xiv\/en\/homilies\/2025\/documents\/20250803-omelia-giubileo-giovani.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>in his homily<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0that even if\u00a0today\u2019s liturgy does not mention the episode directly, it invites us to reflect on\u00a0the encounter with the Risen One \u201cWho transforms our lives and enlightens our affections, desires and thoughts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-1 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>The Lord is knocking at window of our soul<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He noted that the first reading, taken from the Book of Ecclesiastes, invites us, like the two disciples, to come to terms with the experience of our limitations and the fleeting nature of all things that pass away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are not made for a life where everything is taken for granted and static, but for an existence that is constantly renewed through gift of self in love.\u201d\u00a0\u201cThis is why,\u201d he said, \u201cwe continually aspire to something &#8216;more&#8217; that no created reality can give us; we feel a deep and burning thirst that no drink in this world can satisfy.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Knowing this,&#8221; he said, &#8220;let us not deceive our hearts by trying to satisfy them with cheap imitations!&#8221;\u00a0 Rather, he suggested, &#8220;Let us listen to them!&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Let us turn this thirst,&#8221; the Holy Father suggested, &#8220;into a step stool, like children who stand on tiptoe, in order to peer through the window of encounter with God.\u00a0 We will then find ourselves before Him, who is waiting for us, knocking gently on the window of our soul.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-2 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>St. Augustine\u2019s wisdom<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt is truly beautiful, especially at a young age,\u201d the Holy Father said, \u201cto open wide your hearts, to allow him to enter, and to\u00a0set\u00a0out on this adventure with him towards eternity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saint Augustine, reflecting on his intense search for God, the Pope recalled, asked himself: &#8216;What, then, is the object of our hope [&#8230;]?&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asking whether our source of hope is the earth or something beautiful that comes from it, he argued that these items were not, but rather &#8216;the One Who made them,&#8217; &#8216;He is your hope.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">St. Augustine, Pope Leo reminded the young people, thinking of his own journey, prayed and said, \u201cYou [Lord] were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for you [\u2026]\u00a0 You called, you shouted, and you broke through my deafness.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like Augustine\u2019s search for meaning, the Pope acknowledged the young people at times ponder similar questions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>Things that are above<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Pope acknowledged, \u201cThere is a burning question in our hearts, a need for truth that we cannot ignore, which leads us to ask ourselves: what is true happiness?\u00a0 What is the true meaning of life?\u00a0 What can free us from being trapped in meaninglessness, boredom and mediocrity?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In recent days, Pope Leo recalled the young people have had many beautiful experiences, adding that through all this, &#8220;you can grasp an important point,&#8221; namely the fullness of our existence does not depend on what we store up or, as we heard in the Gospel, on what we possess.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rather, he reminded, fullness has to do with what we joyfully welcome and share.\u00a0 &#8220;Buying, hoarding and consuming are not enough.\u00a0 We need to lift our eyes, to look upwards, to the &#8216;things that are above\u2026\u2019&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-4 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>Jesus is our hope<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Dear young people, Jesus is our hope,&#8221; Pope Leo insisted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It is He,&#8221; as Saint John Paul II said addressing young people in the same place during the 2000 Jubilee, Pope Leo remembered, \u201cwho stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives [&#8230;] to commit\u2026 to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, the Holy Father exhorted, \u201cLet us remain united to Him, let us remain in His friendship, always, cultivating it through prayer, adoration, Eucharistic Communion, frequent Confession, and generous charity, following the examples of Blessed Piergiorgio Frassati and Blessed Carlo Acutis who will soon be declared saints.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hence, he invited, \u201cAspire to great things, to holiness, wherever you are.\u00a0 Do not settle for less.\u00a0 You will then see the light of the Gospel growing every day, in you and around you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, after entrusting the young people to the Blessed Mother, Pope Leo XIV concluded, praying that as they return home, they \u201ccontinue to walk joyfully in the footsteps of the Savior, and spread your enthusiasm and the witness of your faith to everyone you meet!\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:15px;width:100%;\"><div class=\"fusion-separator-border sep-single sep-solid\" style=\"--awb-height:20px;--awb-amount:20px;border-color:#e0dede;border-top-width:1px;\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-6\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaticannews.va\/en\/pope\/news\/2025-08\/pope-at-youth-jubilee-mass-adventure-with-the-lord.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">* Article published in Vatican News. \u00a0Deborah Castellano Lubov.
