And I believe that this opens us up to a world of relationships.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the former Superior General, this relational dimension permeates the Lasallian Mission: &#8220;I am convinced that relationships, the ability to relate to others, are also fundamental in education.&#8221; Moreover, &#8220;<\/span><b>the most important mission we have is to create a world where we can all live as sons and daughters of God<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as brothers and sisters among ourselves.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-2 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>Fraternal relationships<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The experience of fraternity is anchored in the identity and origins of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, recalls Brother \u00c1lvaro: &#8220;Our first name was Masters of the Christian and Gratuitous Schools. And Blain tells us why the Founder very soon changed the name from &#8216;Masters&#8217; to &#8216;Brothers&#8217;. He explains it very well by saying that <\/span><b>the fundamental thing is that ability to relate to each other, truly as brothers and sisters. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And I believe that every Lasallian \u2013 some of us bear the name Brothers \u2013 should feel like a brother and sisters to others.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, during his years as Superior General (2000\u20132014), he was able to see how fraternal relationships are in Lasallian DNA: \u201cI was fortunate enough to visit 80 countries, and <\/span><b>what struck me most was the quality of the relationships that exist within each Lasallian work<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, thinking for example of Asia, where there are different religions&#8230; and the spirit of unity and fraternity.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>Option for the poor<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Likewise, <\/span><b>Lasallian fraternity is expressed in its commitment to the education of the most impoverished<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. &#8220;That is why we were born!&#8221; asserts Brother \u00c1lvaro, claiming that &#8220;in the vision that the Founder gives us in the first two <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lasallian.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Meditations-2007.pdf\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meditations for the Time of Retreat <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, inspired by a text from Saint Paul, &#8216;God wants everyone to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth&#8217;. But if God wants that, God has to make the means available to those who are most abandoned, in the Founder\u2019s expression: &#8216;very far from&#8217; God.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hence, the call that Pope Leo XIV makes in his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/leo-xiv\/en\/apost_exhortations\/documents\/20251004-dilexi-te.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">apostolic exhortation <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dilexi te<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, on love for the poor, concerns all Lasallians, as Brother \u00c1lvaro has said: <\/span><b>&#8220;it is for us a reaffirmation of our commitment to the poor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
