She also points out that \u2018educators and teachers have a unique opportunity to talk about civic life, to talk about history,\u2019 and this also helps them to \u2018shape their own values and beliefs.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the American researcher also warns that \u2018<\/span><b>a lot of times young people and students don\u2019t feel that they are heard, that their experiences or their values or their opinions are heard,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> so also I think that in educational settings making a space that is safer than to have those conversations whether or not there is agreement or disagreement.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-1 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>Catholic Identity and Religious Diversity<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Referring specifically to the religious practices of the young Lasallians who participated in the research, Dr Jaclyn maintains that \u2018<\/span><b>in the United States at least about half of the students attending Lasallian schools identify as Catholic themselves\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, \u2018while most of the students do identify as Catholic and they may have a background in Catholicism and in religion more generally, there is more diversity as well.\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this point, she explains that \u2018there is a lot of other types of traditions that are represented in Lasallian schools, including those who identify as more secular, non-religious.
