<\/span><b>a vulnerable population where the presence of the Camorra has truly scared the lives of many people<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, not only through crime \u2013 leading them to commit unlawful acts \u2013 but also through its system of violence, oppression, power and the pursuit of money at any cost\u201d, says Enrico Muller, a Brother of the Christian Schools.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAs for the Roma\u201d, continues the Italian religious, \u201cwe are talking about <\/span><b>a population of migrants who fled the war in Yugoslavia <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the late 1990s, who founded themselves here in Naples, and who live practically in shanty towns\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is against this backdrop that the story of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CasArcobaleno<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> unfolds, a bold educational initiative by the Italian De La Salle Brothers, which has become <\/span><b>a beacon of hope and opportunity for the most impoverished and marginalised in society<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-1 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>A home for everyone<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-126182\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-300x169.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-200x113.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-400x225.jpeg 400w, https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-600x338.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-800x450.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-1200x675.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-1536x864.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg-1800x1013.jpeg 1800w, https:\/\/www.lasalle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Foto-Notas-Salle-4.jpg.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like a small oasis amidst the buildings, the first thing that catches the eye upon arriving at <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CasArcobaleno <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is, precisely, the colourful letters that stand out on one of its murals at the entrance, as if it were a rainbow \u2014 which is exactly what the Italian word <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">arcobaleno<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> means. <\/span><b>\u201cThis home of ours <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013<\/span><b> because we really do like to call it home <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013<\/span><b> has so many colours precisely because our neighbourhood was grey<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and so we thought it was important to bring colour and beauty to these people who already have so much colour and beauty within them, but who don\u2019t realise it, and we want to help them bring it out, to share it, because the community is the true resource for changing the world\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Living in community, experiencing the joy of being brothers and sisters, is one of the principles that has shaped the lives of those who have discovered in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CasArcobaleno <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">their vocation to service, and to <\/span><b>educational service for the most impoverished<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the case of Giuseppe Ferrante, president of the <i>Occhi aperti <\/i>(Open Eyes) cooperative, who has been running <i>CasArcobaleno\u2019s<\/i> projects for 18 years. \u201cIn 2010 I moved house because I got married and was therefore looking for a new home. The Year 9 class has just 15 pupils, because there are 15 pupils with special needs who have not been to school for one, two or three years\u2026 In the afternoon, at the community centre, we have around 30 children attending: from Year 1 primary to Year 8 (6-11 years) [&#8230;]. Then we also have a small group of teenagers, boys from Year 8 to Years 10 and 11 (aged 13-15), who attend the workshops a little later in the day, as they are older, and there are another fifteen or so of them\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The joy and vitality that permeate <i>CasArcobaleno <\/i>are also reflected in the sporting and artistic activities, which form part of the educational programme and are evident throughout the house, where the students\u2019 artwork is on display. \u201cEvery year we hold the International Art Symposium, where artists from all over the world stay here for a week, creating works of art alongside local children, teenagers and mothers\u201d, explains Giuseppe.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>International Volunteer Ministry<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All in all, <\/span><b>\u201cthe volunteers who come from all over the world are the most beautiful colour that helps transform the hearts of those who visit and those who live here<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, says Brother Enrico, who is in charge of hospitality and solidarity at the centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI came here for the first time between 2019 and 2020 to do a year of volunteering\u201d, says Margot Lemaire, a young French woman who has since returned to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CasArcobaleno <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on several occasions. \u201cHere I am again today, aged 24, to do a few months of volunteering. I\u2019ve only just arrived, but the truth is I already know this place well\u201d, she says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this remote part of Scampia, which is now part of her life, there are <\/span><b>\u201call those people I want to take with me and all those values they have taught me<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: to share, to welcome others, to value difference, to communicate in a different way\u2026 and also humility\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Mariangela Capuozzo\u2019s case, her experience has made her feel \u201cright at home from the very start\u201d. In fact, she says, <\/span><b>\u201cI now consider <\/b><b><i>CasArcobaleno <\/i><\/b><b>my true second home<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. I\u2019ve really found a family, in every sense. It wasn\u2019t easy at first because, although I\u2019m from the neighbourhood, I always grew up in a more isolated world\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-4 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>Discovering God in the other<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI started as a volunteer here in Scampia, but I liked this project so much and got so involved in it that I decided to apply for a year of civil service here,\u201d admits Alessandro Testa, for whom this experience has represented \u201ca journey\u201d: \u201cit is <\/span><b>about discovering who I am, but also discovering where God resides in others<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
