Since Nancie Atwell became the first winner in 2015, <\/span><b>the \u2018Nobel Prize for Teaching\u2019 has grown into the largest award of its kind<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, drawing tens of thousands of nominations from well over a hundred countries,\u201d reads the competition\u2019s website.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-1 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:var(--awb-custom17);--awb-font-size:22px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;\"><b>A recognition of excellence<\/b><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recognising excellence in learning environments has been one of the principles and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/globalteacherprize.org\/pages\/eligibility-criteria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eligibility criteria<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>\u201cSince its launch, the Prize has centred on the classroom teacher<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: someone teaching children face-to-face, for a minimum number of hours per week, with the plans to stay in the profession. That description still sits at the heart of the Prize. The updated criteria recognise that, alongside these teachers, exceptional educators are making a profound impact in an increasingly diverse range of learning environments.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this regard, <\/span><b>this year\u2019s edition of the Prize includes nominations for digital educators <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who reach groups of learners through videos or other published formats, as well as the founders and leaders of educational programmes \u2014 individuals whose role is to design and manage structured learning for children, often through networks of centres, facilitators or volunteers across multiple learning environments. <\/span><b>Teachers working in refugee education and other non-formal settings <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are now also explicitly included.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe judging criteria have been adjusted to match,\u201d explain the organisers. Consequently, \u201cevidence of impact can now come from platform data or independent testimony, not only classroom assessments\u201d. Furthermore, \u201crecognition can come from the institutions and learning communities a digital educator works within, not only from schools. And a<\/span><b> criterion on global citizenship has been expanded to include the harder, more urgent skill of resolving conflict<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, not just being comfortable with difference\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Lasallian teachers worldwide are also eligible to apply<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!
