International Women’s Day 2021

International Women’s Day 2021

March 8, 2021 admin1

International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on the condition of women in the world, on progress made in gender equality, and to call for change for an equitable society.

Today, legal restrictions have kept 2.7 billion women from accessing the same job as men. Less than 25 percent of parliamentarians were women, as of 2019. One in three women experience gender-based violence, still. [United Nations]

As La Salle, we refuse all form of discrimination against women, and gender-related violence. We are committed to promote equal opportunities for women and men all over the world.

We work every day to promote access for and retention of girls and women at all levels of education, throughout the world.  Investing in girls’ education transforms communities, countries and the entire world. Girls who receive an education are less likely to be victims of child/adolescent-marriages and more likely to lead healthy, productive lives. They earn higher incomes, participate in the decisions that most affect them, and build better futures for themselves and their communities.

In La Salle, we can count on more than 60,000 women fostering the Lasallian educational mission worldwide. This figure corresponds to the 58.2 percent of our educational and administrative personnel, in other words, over half of the energy, talents and passion that move our institutions and programs forward, benefitting over a million people everyday   Stand up with us against inequalities and let’s make 2021 count for women and girls everywhere
