Brother Armin Luistro, Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, has appointed Brother Betre Fisseha, FSCfor a second term as Visitor of the Lwanga District, from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2030. 

Brother Betre was born in Ethiopia in 1973. He took the habit of the Brothers at the international Novitiate in Nairobi in 1995. He pronounced his first vows in 1996 and made his final vows in 2005.

He holds a bachelor Degree of Science of Education in English, Leadership and Religion from St Mary’s University Minnesota, Tangaza College Campus in Nairobi, Kenya. He also holds a Diploma in Social Communication from Tangaza College, as well as a Master Degree in Educational Administration and Planning, from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (Nairobi) and a Master’s Degree in Lasallian Leadership. He has participated in international programs of Lasallian Studies, such as SIEL in Rome and the Buttimer Institute (RELAN).

Brother Betre has served as teacher and administrator in several apostolates in Ethiopia including Meki, Nazareth, Dire Dawa. For a good number of years, he was director of the Catholic Mission School in Meki. While in Meki, he became Sector Coordinator of Ethiopia and later on he was community director at Gebremikael Centre Community, Addis Ababa, where he also served as principal of Nazareth School, and some years later he was community director of Saint Joseph community in Nazareth. 

Currently he is the Visitor of the Lwanga District of Africa and has served this position since July 2022. The Lwanga District  has a total of about 119 Brothers, 24 communities, 62 educational works and more than 20,400 students. There are over 1.400 lay partners.

We extend our congratulations and best wishes to Brother Betre on the mission and responsibility entrusted to him in his second term as Visitor, and we ask Saint John Baptist de La Salle to continue to intercede for him and for the Lwanga District.
