“Amubri” is the title of the audio-visual produced by Brother Álvaro López Falcón, from the Arlep District (La Salle in Spain and Portugal), during his time with this missionary work of the Brothers of the Christian Schools of the District of Central America-Panama.

The 10-minute short film is available on the LaSalleOrg YouTube channel and recounts the history and experience of some Brothers, such as Brother Álvaro Rodríguez Echeverría, former Superior General of the Institute, together with several Lasallian partners committed to this Leavening Work among the indigenous peoples of Costa Rica.

In the Peripheries

Indeed, at “Casa La Salle” in the parish of Santiago Apóstol in Amubri, located in the Costa Rican Diocese of Limón, the Lasallian commitment to the peripheries is lived out alongside indigenous peoples and in communion with the local Church

In this sense, the audio-visual work of Brother Álvaro, who has also been developing several initiatives as a digital missionary through his Instagram account @hermaestro, brings us closer to the origins and mission of the Brothers in this region of the Talamanca mountain range, where most of the population belongs to the indigenous communities of the Bríbri and Cabrecar ethnic groups

“Today we are filled with joy to see how well [this work] is progressing, paving the way and truly finding the role, the place, the mission of the Brothers in this region of the country, which is certainly one of the most needy”, comments Brother Álvaro Rodríguez in the short film, affirming that, in the same way, “Amubri responds very well to what the Brother Superior General is asking of the Institute, to open ourselves to the indigenous world”.
