Br. Armin Luistro, Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, has appointed Br. David Caretti and Br. Christopher Brady as Auxiliary Visitors for the San Francisco-New Orleans (SFNO) District, for a four-year term, to assist Br. Nick González, District Visitor, from 1 July 2026 until 30 June 2030. For Brother Christopher, this will be his second time in this office, coinciding with Brother Nick’s second term.
Brother David Caretti, who took his first vows in 2001 and his perpetual vows in 2007, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Saint Mary’s College of California, a Master of Theology from the University of Notre Dame, and a Doctorate in Education in Catholic Educational Leadership from the University of San Francisco. His years as a student at Saint Mary’s College played an important role in his vocational discernment and his decision to join the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
Brother David’s ministry focuses primarily on accompaniment, formation, discernment and the promotion of a culture of vocation within the Lasallian Family. He is particularly committed to governance, understood as a ministry shared by the Brothers and Lasallian partners in support of mission-centered Lasallian Catholic institutions. Brother David currently serves as the director of pastoral ministry of vocations for his District, supporting young people who wish to enter religious life with the Brothers whilst helping schools to foster a broader culture of vocation. Based at Saint Mary’s College, he is a member of the Joseph Alemany Community.
Before taking up his current post, he served for 18 years in Lasallian secondary education, notably at Saint Mary’s College High School and Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, where he served as campus minister and a member of the religious studies and mathematics faculties. In 2019, he was appointed to Saint Mary’s College, joining the Centre for Mission and Ministry as Director of Liturgy and Faith Formation.
Since 2020, he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Saint Mary’s College, where he currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Board and Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Christian Brothers High School and has served on boards and committees throughout the SFNO District and RELAN.
Brother David says he is “deeply grateful for the formation he has received through the accompaniment, example, friendship and witness of the Brothers, Lasallian Partners and students” throughout his life and ministry. He credits these relationships with “continuously teaching him what it means to be a Brother in the service of the Lasallian Mission”.
For his part, Brother Christopher Brady, who has been serving as Auxiliary Visitor for SFNO District from July 1 2022 to June 30 2026 is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area.
Brother Christopher was a student at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in San Francisco. He entered the Novitiate and pronounced his first vows in 1971, whilst he took his perpetual vows in 1979. He graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga in 1974 with a degree in Political Science, and subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Private School Administration from the San Francisco University in 1982.
Brother Christopher has served in various Lasallian ministries throughout his career as a teacher and administrator, including as headmaster of Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in San Francisco, California, from 1987 to 1999, De La Salle High School in Concord, California, from 2000 to 2011, and La Salle High School in Pasadena, California, from 2012 to 2016. He returned to Saint Mary’s in 2016. In 2021, he was appointed director of the Community at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA, where he has resided permanently since 2022.
We extend our best wishes to Brothers David and Christopher in the service entrusted to them. We ask Saint John Baptist de La Salle to continue to intercede for them and for the SFNO District.
