Twelve Lasallians from across the Region were selected to be a part of the inaugural cohort for the Lasallian Pedagogy Fellows in the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN).
In this program, the fellows will accompany one another on a journey as fellow learners by exploring their origins as Lasallian educators.
The cohort will prayerfully consider how and why Lasallians continue to be relevant in meeting the needs of young people today. In community they will discern how their personal vocation aligns with the underlying and overarching principles and historical impact of the Lasallian educational mission. Together they will enhance and sustain our understanding of contemporary Lasallian pedagogy.
The first in-person session held from Sept. 25 – 27 in Westmont, Illinois, was facilitated by Dr. Michael Daniels, director of the office of education for the District of San Francisco New Orleans (SFNO), and Sarah Laitinen, director of education and formation for Christian Brothers Conference. Through a number of sessions, the fellows discussed why the world needs Lasallian education and reflected on their individual educational philosophies.
Lasallian Pedagogy Fellows is an 18-month Regional formation program that invites participants to deepen their knowledge of Lasallian pedagogy. This program will invite participants to deepen their knowledge of Lasallian pedagogy while engaging in three in-person sessions and 10 virtual sessions.
