The Superior General has recently appointed, for the second time, Brother Joseph Lê Van Phuong as Visitor of the District of Vietnam. The first appointment was in 2019. The second appointment will run from 15 March 2023 to 14 March 2027. He was also Auxiliary Visitor from 2011 to 2015 and District Councillor from 2015 to 2019.

Brother Joseph Le Van Phuong was born on 1 August 1964 in Quang Tri Province. Taken by his mother, together with his two brothers, to Ninh Thuan Province during the Vietnam War (1968), he became a physics teacher in a secondary school before joining the institute of the Brothers in 1994. He took the habit in 1995 and pronounced his first vows in 1997. He made his perpetual vows in 2005.

Brother Joseph was involved in the formation of catechists for the rural areas of southern Vietnam, leading a group of young Brothers who organised the training of catechism teachers for many years. He has also written several books on the subject.

He loves to take the young Brothers to poor villages to teach children and to serve those most in need. Young people seek guidance from him, especially when they have to make hard and important decisions in life.

Good work, Brother Joseph!
