In the spirit of our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle, Lasallians around the world are actively involved in supporting the poor and vulnerable people in their communities.

At La Salle Pouthum School in Cambodia, the Brothers, Lasallian Sisters and teachers celebrated Founder’s Day on April 7th to provide food and supplies to those infected by the coronavirus pandemic and people in need in the local community.

The team visited Pouthum Village where they provided 34 families with a box of noodles and a 10kg bag rice, some of whom have students in La Salle Pouthum School. These low-income families have also experienced temporary unemployment as a consequence of coronavirus pandemic. The Brothers are doing their best to support them, not only providing food in this difficult time, but also free education for their children. The Brothers welcome around 250 students each school year to La Salle Pouthum School and anticipate increased enrollment over the next couple of years.

Looking forward over the coming days, Brother Joseph Anh, the principal of La Salle Pouthum School said: “We are now calling for generous donations among Lasallians and friends in Cambodia in order to have something to give to poor families. We can do a small thing in our humble hand to share with people in this poor village. Feeling with their suffering and being with them is extremely important in these days”.
